MBS Highway: Tips & Tricks
MBS Highway can tricky to understand. Here are some helpful tips and tricks to know when going over the information.
Tips & Tricks:
- Keep MBS Highway open all day long while the market is open to view when mortgage backed securities are going up or down. Refresh the page often to see changes.
- This information is available for Loan Officers, Branch Managers, Division Managers, Regional Managers and Executives.
- Graphs:
- The barometers are to where the economy is going and to help predict what the interest rates are going to be.
- 1 - The candle color is determined by where the market opened and closed. If it closed higher than it opened, the candle is green. If it closed lower than it opened, the candle is red. For a green candle, the market opened at the bottom of the body, and closed at the top of the body.
- 2 - Displays the wick shows the intra day low. If there is no lower wick, it means the market either opened or closed at its lowest point, depending on if it’s a green or red candle.
- 3 - Shows the intra day high. Again, if there is no higher wick, it means the market either opened or closed at its highest point, depending on if it’s a green or red candle.
- Date Range:
- Users can adjust the date range for each graph by moving the left and right, or selecting the Zoom range.
- On the graph, you can click + drag between any timeline to focus on the period selected
- Items in the legend can be deselected to not be displayed in the graph.
- Users draw lines on the graph and remove drawn lines as needed.
Use these tools to demonstrate the marketplace graphs to clients/borrowers.
